MOLYKOTE®

Molykote® coating is a high-performance dry film lubricant (DFL) coating system designed to improve the friction and wear characteristics of metal components. By providing a low coefficient of friction in moving mechanical assemblies, it ensures easier assembly, quieter operation, and extended service life.

Molykote® coatings are the preferred solution where conventional oils or greases are unsuitable. They provide clean, dry lubrication that is resistant to dust, dirt, and moisture while offering long-lasting performance without aging, evaporation, or oxidation. Thanks to their controlled coating thickness, Molykote® coatings are widely used in the automotive, construction, agricultural, and defense industries. As the authorized representative of Molykote® in Türkiye, Çinkosan carefully manages every stage of the application process—from surface preparation to curing—to ensure reliable and consistent friction performance.

Molykote® coating materials consist of solid lubricants such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂), graphite, or PTFE, dispersed in a resin and solvent system. The concentration of these solid lubricants is tailored to meet the performance requirements of different industries. Çinkosan currently offers two primary Molykote® products:

• Molykote® 3400A: A solid, dry-film lubricant designed primarily for automotive, construction, and agricultural equipment applications where corrosion protection is required. It is particularly suitable for contaminated environments, low-speed applications, high loads, and components requiring repeated assembly and disassembly. It provides excellent lubrication and corrosion protection, outstanding solvent resistance, high load-carrying capacity, a low coefficient of friction, and excellent resistance to oils and fuels. Typical applications include automotive lock mechanisms, lock components, and door hinges.

• Molykote® D708: A liquid-applied dry-film lubricant developed to protect metal-to-metal and metal-to-plastic assemblies against corrosion under low and medium loads. It offers excellent wear protection together with a low coefficient of friction. Typical applications include seat belt components, door lock mechanisms, disc brake springs, springs, hinges, bolts, pins, washers, and many other automotive components.
