ZINTEK®

Zintek® is a high-performance zinc flake coating system developed to protect steel components against corrosion. Its durable protective layer ensures long-term performance, even under demanding environmental conditions.

Applied using a non-electrolytic process, Zintek® coatings eliminate the risk of hydrogen embrittlement, as no electrical current is used and the components are not exposed to acid during the pre-treatment process. This makes Zintek® a reliable alternative for high-strength steels with tensile strengths exceeding 800 MPa, where conventional electroplated coatings may present a risk of hydrogen embrittlement or stress corrosion. In addition, no post-plating hydrogen relief heat treatment is required, reducing both processing time and overall production costs. As the authorized representative of Zintek® in Türkiye, Çinkosan has a production capacity of 50 tons per day using Zintek® 200 and Zintek® 300HP coating systems.

Zintek® 200 and Zintek® 300HP are zinc flake coating materials developed by Atotech Germany. Zintek® 200 is a grey basecoat, while Zintek® 300HP is a black basecoat. A silver basecoat combined with a black topcoat creates a uniform black finish that prevents the underlying silver layer from becoming visible in the event of impact or abrasion. By selecting the appropriate topcoat, the required coefficient of friction can be achieved while providing more than 1,000 hours of red rust resistance.

• Inorganic topcoats: Zintek® Top (mineral-based, chromium-free, water-based, reactive, 0.5–1 µm coating thickness), together with lubricant-containing inorganic topcoat options Zintek® Top LV (coefficient of friction: 0.09–0.15) and Zintek® Top LF (coefficient of friction: 0.12–0.18).
• Organic topcoats: Techseal Silver WL (silver, Cr(VI)-free, water-based, enhanced chemical resistance) and Techseal Black SLG (black, Cr(VI)-free, solvent-based, enhanced chemical resistance).

All applications are carried out using the ZT 16 Planetary System supplied from Spain. This system minimizes common coating defects such as excessive coating build-up inside hex sockets and thread filling, ensuring consistent coating quality even on complex fasteners.
