
GEOMET®
GEOMET® is a high-performance, water-based, chromium-free zinc flake coating technology composed of zinc and aluminum flakes. Despite its thin-film structure, it provides outstanding corrosion resistance, making it one of the most widely used surface protection systems for automotive, fasteners, and heavy industrial applications worldwide.
Applied by dip-spin or spray coating processes, GEOMET® provides effective corrosion protection with minimal coating thickness. Unlike electrolytic plating processes, it eliminates the risk of hydrogen embrittlement, making it a reliable solution for high-strength steel components. Thanks to its environmentally friendly formulation and outstanding performance, GEOMET® is recognized as one of the most advanced surface protection technologies available today.
At Çinkosan, GEOMET® 321 and GEOMET® 500 basecoat systems are applied together with PLUS™ Series topcoats, allowing corrosion resistance and coefficient of friction to be precisely optimized according to application requirements.


Advantages of GEOMET® Coating
- Provides 720–2,000 hours of salt spray resistance (ISO 9227 / ASTM B117) with a coating thickness of only 6–15 µm (1–3 coating layers).
- Continues to protect against corrosion even after mechanical damage, thanks to its self-healing properties.
- Maintains its protective performance at temperatures up to 300°C.
- GEOMET® 500 offers a self-lubricating coefficient of friction of 0.12–0.18 (ISO 16047), while GEOMET® 321, combined with PLUS™ Series topcoats, provides an adjustable coefficient of friction ranging from 0.06 to 0.20.
- Eliminates the risk of hydrogen embrittlement thanks to its non-electrolytic application process.
- Free from hexavalent chromium (Cr⁶⁺) and formulated without nonylphenol.
- Provides galvanic compatibility with aluminum and other metals while maintaining electrical conductivity.
- Produces a uniform coating on complex-shaped components and provides an excellent surface for painting and additional coatings.
- Complies with REACH, RoHS (2011/65/EU, 2015/863), ASTM F1136/F1136M, EN 13858, and EN ISO 10683.
